you’re invited!

We’re a church for everyday people, where you can come as you are to connect with God in a way that makes sense. Whether you’re exploring the Christian faith or a church regular, there’s something for you.

From our first day here, we have been included and pulled into the fold in a way that my kids have felt is totally natural and fills me with gratitude.

Hillside is an open and inclusive neighborhood church on a mission to love God and to love people just like you. Whoever you are and wherever you are on life’s journey, you are welcome here!

Where do I park?

There is street parking available all around the church.

What time does worship start?

10:30am

PRO-TIP: Most regulars arrive right at the start time. If you arrive early, you’ll be able to enjoy the peace and calm of sanctuary.

What should I wear?

There is no dress code – come just as you are. We tend to be a casual bunch.

What should I expect when I walk in?

When you walk into our front doors, you will be met by one of our greeters who will offer you both a warm welcome and a worship bulletin. Have any questions? They’ll be happy to answer them for you.

A coat room and restrooms will be available to your right, and the sanctuary will be straight ahead.

PRO-TIP: Our regulars tend to arrive right on the hour. If you are early, the sanctuary will be largely empty. Don’t worry – others will be there soon! Please enjoy the calm and beauty of the space while you wait.

What is worship like?

Our worship style is what we call “Casual Modern Traditional.”

While our worship follows a traditional format – mixing prayers and hymns with scripture readings and a sermon – we are a very casual community. Our services are joy-filled, interactive, and use down-to-earth language and illustrations.

You will leave our worship service spiritually refreshed, with a clearer understanding of how the Christian faith and the wisdom of scripture is relevant to your life.

What about kids?

We love kids at Hillside Community Church.

Every Sunday, we begin worship as a full intergenerational community. After the youth message, children in 5th grade and below are welcome (but not required) to go downstairs to Sunday School or child care.

If you child would like to stay up in the sanctuary, there is a basket full of worship-time toys and activities located under the back pew. They can help themselves!

Can I take communion?

Yes! At Hillside we celebrate communion on the first Sunday of every month. We believe that communion is a representation of Jesus’ radical, inclusive love. If you have a desire to know or experience this love, you are welcome to come forward and participate.

Is this a cult?

Hardly! We’re a member of the United Church of Christ, the most progressive Christian denomination in the U.S. and the largest denomination in New England.
