What They Asked For

It's easy to read the story of the rich man and Lazarus and feel the satisfying thud of justice — the jerk gets what he deserves. But what if you don't quite believe in hell? And what if, if you're honest, you're not entirely sure the powerful people who ignore suffering in our world will ever really be held accountable? This sermon sits with those doubts rather than papering over them, asking a harder question: not just whether God will settle the score someday, but what it means to stand on the right side of the chasm right now, while it still matters.

Scripture References: Luke 16:19-31
