Laity Sunday
One Sunday a year, we shake things up. The pastor makes the coffee, and the congregation leads the worship. It’s Laity Sunday – a joyful, spirit-filled reminder that church has never been a one-person show.
On April 27, the pulpit belongs to Nolan Kelly, who’ll be preaching on the parable of the Good Samaritan – a story that calls us to widen our circles, cross our comfort zones, and embody compassion in concrete ways.
This service is always a highlight of the year – not because it’s polished, but because it’s personal. The Spirit moves through us all.
We still need a few voices to bring this worship experience to life:
– 2 people to help lead communion
– 1 person to offer a pastoral prayer
– 1 person to do the welcome and announcements
– 1 person to give the benediction
– 1 or 2 people to lead the candle lighting
– 1 person to give the children’s message
Never done it before? No problem. We’ll set you up for success – and cheer you on all the way.
This is church as community, not performance. If you feel even a flicker of curiosity, reach out. You don’t have to be perfect – just willing.
