The Psalms have been the church’s prayer book for three thousand years, and they got the job by refusing to pretend. Over four Sundays we’ll pray four very different psalms: awe under a sky too big for us, trust through the dark valley, thanksgiving for what we barely survived, and, yes, one Sunday of raw rage, because the Psalms give us permission to bring God even the prayers we’re ashamed of.
