WHY HILLSIDE?
WHAT WE'RE TALKING ABOUT IN WORSHIP

Collapse: Hope When Everything Falls Apart

Some things fall apart slowly. Others come down before we’ve figured out where the cracks were. In this series, we’ll turn to biblical stories of fractured families, broken friendships, and a society under siege to ask what faith looks like when we can’t hold everything together. These stories offer no easy fixes, but they do offer wisdom for taking responsibility, living with what we cannot repair, and finding the courage to build something hopeful together.

Buried Joy

The Book of Psalms doesn't shy away from anger, grief, or doubt. It sits in all of it, unresolved, song after song. And then it ends on joy. Not because the hard stuff finally got fixed, but because joy was never waiting on the other side of it. This sermon on Psalm 150, the last psalm in the book, uses a Norwegian explorer, a bag of Cheez Doodles, and a single Hebrew command to ask what it actually takes to arrive at joy, and why it might be closer than you think.

Scripture References: Psalms 150:1-16
