Read Matthew 11:28-30

“Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

We have labored.

We are heavy laden.

All of us in one way or another.  Not just front-line clinicians – but staff of all stripes, adults working remotely, teens socializing via Zoom, young children learning remotely.

We are weary.

We need rest.

I remember a saying from the 12 steps program – Let go and let God. As nurses caring for patients with substance use disorder we found this simple command helped us in moments of sadness and frustration.

Isn’t this what Jesus is telling us here? “Take my yoke upon you and learn of me, for I am meek and lowly in heart and you shall find rest unto your souls.”

Jesus’ yoke is easy and the burden light.
